If you come to Food & People this Thursday evening you could win this- I’ve worked on it the last two Thursday nights. It was quite hard as I was not only drawing in the dark (well, a relatively dark bar) but also drawing moving people but hopefully I’ve captured some sort of atmosphere! Also this week the lovely Charlotte Ryan is speaking, alongside Juliette Hogan so that will be good! I don’t think I’ve ever used the phrase ‘the lovely’ before.

I chose the Revlon red Draper Heel from the Kathryn Wilson W13 collection to paint as I love the simplicity of it and the colour works well with what I wanted to create. I managed to intertwine the strong clean lines of the shoe with an on-going theme I am exploring in my art, where I obscure and warp portraits in different ways.

Before I went to the states, I did these drawings for Australian Magazine MASH, the black and white drawings of food were especially fun. Here is a small section- I did 15 portraits but I’ll take some photos of the magazine when I get a copy.
